Vantage Live has no accounts, does not ask who you are, and does not build a
profile of you. Which camera you open, how long you watch it and what you save
never leaves your iPhone. There are no advertising networks and no third-party
trackers in the app. We do measure a small, named set of usage events, and
they are listed below in full.
- No account, no sign-up
- The app works the moment you open it. There is nothing to register.
- What stays on your device
- Your favourites and your settings are stored on your iPhone only. They are
never uploaded, and deleting the app removes them.
- What our server sees
- The app asks our server for the list of cameras. Like any request over the
internet, that server sees the IP address it came from. Our hosting
provider, Cloudflare, keeps short-lived request logs for security and for
finding faults, which is how any hosted service works. We do not analyse
those logs to follow people, we do not build profiles from them, and we
never link them to anything else. There are no cookies, no identifiers and
no advertising in the app.
- What we measure
- To know whether the app works and which parts get used, it sends four
events to our own server at telemetry.noaber.ai. This is our own
infrastructure, not an analytics company, and the data is never sold or
shared. These four, and nothing else:
app.launched — the app was opened. Carries the app version,
the device type, the language setting and the country the request came from.
catalogue.loaded — how many cameras the app received. This
is how we notice when the nightly health check is throwing too many away.
feature.used — which of the four screens was opened: map,
grid, discover or favourites. The screen, never the camera.
purchase.completed — Pro was bought, with the product and
the price.
Each event carries a device identifier that is salted and hashed, so it
counts as one device without being traceable back to a person or reusable
in any other app. Nothing in these events says which camera you watched.
- Location
- If you allow it, the app uses your location to put the cameras nearest to
you first. That calculation happens on your device. Your location never
leaves your iPhone and is never sent to us or to anyone else. You can
refuse it and the app keeps working.
- Camera streams
- When you watch a camera, your device connects directly to the organisation
that operates it, such as a road authority. That connection is between you
and them, and their own privacy terms apply to it. We do not sit in between
and we do not see what you watch.
- Purchases
- Vantage Live Pro is sold by Apple. Payment details go to Apple and never
reach us. We only receive the answer to one question from your device:
whether this device owns Pro.
- The cameras themselves
- Vantage Live only carries cameras that their owners publish openly:
official public sources such as road authorities, harbours and tourist
boards. Nothing pointed at a home, nothing anyone put online without
meaning to share it. If a camera is in the app that should not be, mail
us and it is gone the same day.
- Children
- The app collects no personal data at all, so there is nothing that could be
collected from a child either.
- Changes
- If this ever changes, the date at the top changes with it, and anything that
affects you materially will be said in the app before it takes effect.
